Can you say one if not all of the following:-

  • pick up your clothes
  • flush the toilet
  • lift your dishes
  • stop fighting with…….
  • don’t you dare answer me back like that
  • what do you mean you are BORED??
  • get dressed
  • your bedroom is a bloody disgrace
  • I swear if you don’t pack it in I AM CANCELLING THE HOLIDAY
  • give me your phone

Of course, the list goes on but I figured I would stop before my blood pressure went up again.  Also, there may have been a few extra choice words thrown in just to spice up these statements but I figured I would remove them otherwise it would be a blog full of expletives!  Oh Lord, Is it nearly September?

Now I can’t possibly be the only one that feels that kids today expect so much, want it now and don’t really want to do or give much back in return.  Of course, like everything, there will be exceptions to this rule and for you parents who have those angelic like kids…well a little part of me wants to trip you up!

Who is to blame?  Society, social media, the world we live in, the schools, their friends, the kids themselves or us – the parents?  Is it a combination of all of the above?  For me personally, I take responsibility for how my kids behave up to this day.  I don’t know how things will pan out over the next few years when they meet new people, experience new things etc but for now, it’s all down to me (oh and Paul of course).  So with regards to those statements I shout daily, possibly around a thousand million times I hold my hands up because I frickin did it for them for far too long.  I most definitely made a rod for my own back so if there is one piece of advice I can give to you mums out there it is this – as soon as they can walk give them a mop and a duster, trust me on this, you will be delighted you listened.
